How to See What Web Sites Your Computer is Secretly Connecting To

It is really frustrating when you are trying to complete your task real fast, but your system plays sport. It is taking a hell lot of time to move from one page to the other or even worse when the page you have clicked just doesn’t open up. What do you do in such a situation, cry for help or just start cursing the system for slowing down the very moment. Both the ways won’t be much of a help, instead you will have to look for the reason behind slowing down of your system. In most cases you will find that your system is slowing down only when you have loads of malware, adware and spyware eating up the internet connection. They are sitting there and making your life miserable with a slow system. This generally happens behind your back and that is the reason you are not even aware of it too. If you sit there thinking that you have the firewall working for you, then you might be wrong. Though the firewall ensures that they block everything which they find suspicious, but precaution is better than cure and that is the reason, it is better that you check the system for yourself and ensure that there is no malware and adware blocking your way.

Checking what web sites your computer is secretly connecting to

If you want to know what is going on, behind your back, then you will have to take the help of a simple DOS command. If you are not that pro in using commands, then also do not fret away because the command is really simple and within minutes you will have the result in front of your eyes. Here is how you can check why your computer is running so slow –

  • Click on the Windows Start menu and look for the command prompt
  • Now right click on that and select the option of Run as Administrator
  • Another option to open up the command prompt is to type in cmd in the run box
  • Now the command prompt will open up in the Windows System Directory
  • It is now time to use ‘cd’ command in order to get to root directory
  • Here you will have to type ‘netstat – b 5> activity.txt
  • Press the enter button after entering the command
  • Now wait for a few minutes, say for about 2 minutes
  • After that you need to hit Ctrl + C
  • Once you have done that, you will have to type in ‘activity.txt’ on command line so that it opens up the log file in default text editor or notepad

When this text file opens, you will see that it has all the records of your internet connection. It will be easier for you to note down, which are the things that are slowing you down. Once you have the name, look up the task manager to locate all of these and take care of it right away.
