There is no official way by WhatsApp by which you can move images and videos to your external SD card. However, there is an easy to follow way to move images and videos stored by WhatsApp on your internal storage to your device’s SD card.

Step 1:

First of all, before beginning the guide, make sure that your device has a File Manager application installed by default. In case a File Manager application is not present on your device, then please download it from the Google Play Store. We recommend the ES File Explorer application. It is one of the fastest and most efficient file manager applications out there.

Step 2:

Once you have a File Manager application installed, run the application and navigate to the internal storage space root folder of your device.

Step 3:

From the internal storage folder, locate a folder named “WhatsApp”. This is where all the data received by your WhatsApp messenger is stored.

Step 4:

From the “WhatsApp” folder, locate a folder named “Media”. This folder houses all the images, videos and other media files that you receive via WhatsApp. Long press on the “Media” folder and cut the “Media” folder.

Step 5:

Exit from the Internal Storage root folder and now navigate to the external SD card root folder from the File Manager application.

Step 6:

Under the root SD card folder, create a new folder with name as “WhatsApp”.

Step 7:

Inside this newly created folder, paste the “Media” folder that you cut earlier.
