Texting & Driving is Dangerous

“The TextLimit app will give employers and parents the ability to end the dangerous practice of texting and driving” according to David Meers, CEO of Mobile Life Solutions, LLC

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 27, 2013

TextLimit – New App Stops Distracted Driving

In the wake of a wave of newly enacted and newly proposed “texting and driving” laws nationwide, comes the introduction of TextLimit,http://www.textlimit.com – the only mobile application that empowers subscribers, especially parents of teenage drivers and employers to remotely inhibit text messaging and other features of the phone while their child or employee is behind the wheel.

Deterrent vs. Solution
“Distracted driving has become one of the biggest issues on the roads today. Despite passing laws making the activity of texting and driving illegal, accidents involving injuries and fatalities are still on the rise. Our app, Textlimit stops the practice of distracted driving. Every parent with a teen driver or company with employees on the road should be using this new technology,” says Mobile Life Solutions Chief Executive Officer David Meers.

Compatibility
Mobile Life Solutions’ TextLimit application is now available for download in the Apple App Store, Google Play store or Blackberry world. The Windows version will be available in the next 30 days. Textlimit works with iPhone, Android and Blackberry is the only app like it available for these phones.

How Text Limit Works
TextLimit allows the administrator to set the speed at which the phone’s touch screen will become inhibited which makes it impossible to text and drive. Additionally, the administrator may set an upper speed that if the phone exceeds that speed the administrator is notified via SMS or email. The administrator may also set “go through” numbers, which will ring through to the phone even when the screen is blocked. Another added benefit is the ability for the administrator to locate the phone at anytime. The app broadcasts its location every 5 minutes.

Effective & Reliable

“The TextLimit application has been in development for more than a year,” says Meers, “There is no other anti-texting-while-driving application or device similar in price, ease-of-use and efficiency in the marketplace today.” “Limiting employees ability to text and drive is rapidly becoming a serious workplace issue as lawsuit payouts have skyrocketed due to accidents of workers while texting and driving,” added Meers.

APP Download Availability

The app is available today for download in the Apple App Store, Google Play store and Blackberry World.

Parental Control

Meers, the father of two college-age daughters, who have friends that have been involved in serious texting and driving traffic accidents, says, “Unfortunately, advanced technologies require more parental and employer control than ever before.”

He explains, “We’ve gone from monitoring what our kids are watching on TV at home to making sure they are not sending a short text that could cause harm to themselves or someone else while driving. There’s only way to do that, with the new TextLimit application.”

Meers emphasizes, “This is about mandatory control administered by a parent or employer. This is about taking a simple precaution to keep your kids or employees safe” he explains. “You know kids and employees are going to succumb to the temptation of using their phones while driving. It’s up to the parent or employer to stop them before something terrible happens.” When asked why he put the time and money into the development of TextLimit? “I was the worst offender and my daughters encouraged me to do something to stop texting and driving.”

Possible Auto-Insurance Prerequisite
According to Meers, “Mobile Life Solutions plans to seek the interest of the auto insurance industry.”

He speculates, “Once insurance companies review the data and independently test TextLimit, Mobile Life Solutions hopes to persuade insurers to offer discounts to policy holders that use Text Limit or even require TextLimit for their recently licensed drivers as well as those policy holders that operate a fleet of vehicles.

“More than 3,500 people were killed and over 400,000 people injured in distracted driving accidents in 2011,” says Meers. “Insurance companies have a vested interest in reducing the number of distracted driving accidents. TextLimit is the solution.”

Third-Party Endorsements
Meers says, “Mobile Life Solutions will seek third-party endorsements for the TextLimit application from government and law enforcement agencies and associations, automobile clubs and concerned parent groups.”

“Third-party advocacy adds credibility, which is important to the wide spread use of TextLimit,” says Meers. “We want law enforcement organizations, auto clubs, insurance companies, and parent teacher associations to independently test TextLimit and report their findings.”

Meers believes, “Once these people experience TextLimit’s functionality, they will realize the lifesaving technological significance of this ‘app’ – particularly as Americans increasingly become aware of or personally experience the tragic aftermath of distracted driving accidents.

Lawsuits
In some states, parents can be held liable for the actions of their children and companies have already experienced the high cost of legal actions due to distracted driving. In one case, the victim of an accident involving a Coca Cola driver was awarded over $21 million as a result of a distracted driving accident. “The problem is serious and everyday it is becoming more and more top of mind,” added Meers.
